What is Dysport?
There are 43 muscles in the face, and when these facial muscles are used overtime, creases and lines develop. Dysport is very similar to BOTOX, and both are a type of Botulinum Type A injection, but there are minor differences. Dysport has a slightly faster response time and last a bit longer than BOTOX. Patients, who have become immune to the effects of BOTOX, may have a promising reaction to Dysport. The benefits and differences between the 2 drugs can be further discussed in a consultation with one of our board-certified dermatologists at Snyder Dermatology in Austin, TX.
"As usual, Dr. Aranda goes above and beyond in providing a personable care that is difficult to find. She takes the time to discuss various treatment options, discusses the pros and cons of each and genuinely values your input to collectively determine the best outcome. I feel so strongly about Dr. Aranda, Dr. Snyder and their professional staff that I still went to them last year when they were out of network. Thank you Dr. Aranda, you're just great!"- B.J. / Google / Mar 25, 2017
"Dr Aranda is extraordinary. My wife and I both came in with what we thought was a viral infection on out skin, after seeing 3 different doctors. It turn out we both coincidentally have the same rare allergic reaction to shiitake mushrooms, which we had eaten the week before. Dr Aranda figured this out in about 10 minutes despite the fact she and here partner had never actually seen it before, Amazing! We were so relieved. Doctor Aranda obviously has a passionate devotion to her work and that just the kind of person you want on your side when you are dealing with a problem. I cannot recommend here highly enough!"- G.M. / Google / Jul 12, 2018

Dysport is injected by an ultra-fine needle, and is such an easy outpatient procedure that it can be accomplished in only 15 minutes. After injection, mild swelling and redness is expected. However, ice packs are used to calm the inflammation around the injection points and assist in a quick recovery process. Results may be noticeable as soon as 2 – 3 days, but obvious results may take 4 – 7 days. Everyday activities can resume as normal almost immediately with the exception of strenuous activities. Allow at least 24 hours of recuperation before you resume excessive exercise and heavy lifting.
Patients with allergies to cow’s milk and botulinum toxin are not advised to use Dysport. Be sure to discuss any allergies or existing medical conditions you have with your dermatologist during the consultation. Patients who suffer from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, (or any other motor neuron disease), heart disease, irregular heart rhythm, diabetes or asthma are subject to have a higher risk of negative results in response to taking Dysport. Please let our staff know your medical history during our consultation.
Dysport treatments can last up to 4 – 6 months. Therefore, repeated treatments are necessary if patients desire to maintain youthful looking skin produced by Dysport. Patients who wish to continue Dysport typically require 2 – 3 treatments per year as Dysport only temporary relieves fine lines. Typically, the ideal target age for Dysport is between 30 – 65, patients below the age of 35 or above 65 have also been known to use Dysport successfully.
