What is Ultherapy?

When you are looking for a nonsurgical treatment to tighten your skin, you should consult with our board-certified dermatologists at Snyder Dermatology in Austin, TX. We offer ultherapy, a nonsurgical skin tightening that delivers the results of a facelift without the painful surgery and downtime. Using ultrasound energy, ultherapy can tighten the skin of the wrinkles and lines on the eyebrows, neck, and chin, as well as along the chest area. This energy delves deeply into the layers of your skin to stimulate collagen production. Your body will naturally respond to the treatment for younger-looking, tighter skin.

Plastic surgery will yield dramatic results with a surgical lift of your skin. Ultherapy will provide subtle results in comparison. During a private consultation with one of our board-certified dermatologists on staff, we will discuss which procedure is the right plan for you. If you would like to learn more about this highly-advanced noninvasive skin tightening treatment, please contact Dr. Renee Snyder's office and schedule a consultation.

What to Expect

Before ultherapy is performed, the treatment area is thoroughly cleansed. The doctor will apply an ultrasound gel onto the skin and then place the handheld applicator onto the patient’s skin. Using ultrasound imaging, we will be able to see deep within the skin to pinpoint the correct positioning for energy to be delivered. The ultrasound energy will be delivered underneath the surface of the skin. A patient can expect to feel small bits of energy delivered into various depths of the skin. Some people may feel a prickling sensation, so a doctor may suggest taking a pain reliever or similar medication prior to treatment. The procedure can take anywhere from 30 – 90 minutes.

Anticipated Results

Since ultherapy is noninvasive, there is no downtime associated with the treatment. A patient will be able to return to day-to-day activities immediately. After the procedure, a patient’s skin may look flushed but this should subside within a few hours. Some patients report tenderness, slight swelling or a tingling feeling, but these symptoms typically go away in a few days. Right after the procedure, patients usually see a slight improvement in appearance. Within 2 – 3 months, most patients see a dramatic difference since the body has started to naturally regenerate collagen. Since ultherapy isn’t a surgery, patients need to realize that results won’t be comparable to those of cosmetic surgery.
