What is Dysport?
There are 43 muscles in the face, and when these facial muscles are used over time, creases and lines develop. Dysport is very similar to BOTOX, and both are a type of Botulinum Type A injection, but there are minor differences. Dysport has a slightly faster response time (3 – 4 days to take action) and lasts a bit longer (4 – 6 months) than BOTOX. Patients, who have become immune to the effects of BOTOX, may have a promising reaction to Dysport. The benefits and differences between the two drugs can be further discussed in a consultation with one of our board-certified dermatologists at Snyder Dermatology in Austin, TX.
"I've been a patient at Snyder Dermatology for about a year and a half. The second you walk into the Louis Henna location, you are greeted with a warm welcome. I really love that I can call the office and be seen by Dr. Cervantes within a week and a half or less. The staff is respectful of your time, and you can expect to spend little to no time in the waiting room before being called back. Dr. Cervantes is absolutely amazing, and really takes the time to diagnose you properly. She is friendly, professional, and extremely competent. I had a bad rash on my skin that I had confused for acne. She was able to properly diagnose me and my skin is back to being as smooth as a baby's bottom! There is also a wide array of cosmetic services offered at the office at competitive prices. They also offer samples of cleansers, creams, etc. which is really a great bonus."- C.P. / Google / Feb 28, 2019

"I had terrible acne problems for the first time in 22 years and decided to try out this clinic. Right away the appointment was booked within the week and in my first consultation they offered me a long term plan and short term solution for the pain. The clinic is very clean and the staff is very friendly, they definitely make you feel at ease. On top of everything the doctors referred me to specific pharmacies that could offer me lower prices for the medications. My acne mostly cleared within a month but follow up visits made sure It cleared completely and made sure I was comfortable with the treatment and long term use."- D.C. / Google / Oct 26, 2019
Dysport is injected by an ultra-fine needle and is such an easy outpatient procedure that it can be accomplished in only 15 minutes. After injection, mild swelling and redness are expected. However, ice packs are used to calm the inflammation around the injection points and assist in a quick recovery process. Results may be noticeable as soon as 2 – 3 days, but obvious results may take 4 – 7 days. Everyday activities can resume as normal almost immediately with the exception of strenuous activities. Allow at least 24 hours of recuperation before you resume excessive exercise and heavy lifting.
Patients with allergies to cow’s milk and botulinum toxin are not advised to use Dysport. Be sure to discuss any allergies or existing medical conditions you have with your dermatologist during the consultation. Patients who suffer from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, (or any other motor neuron disease), heart disease, irregular heart rhythm, diabetes or asthma are subject to have a higher risk of negative results in response to taking Dysport. Please let our staff know your medical history during our consultation.
Dysport treatments can last up to 4 – 6 months. Therefore, repeated treatments are necessary if patients desire to maintain youthful looking skin produced by Dysport. Patients who wish to continue Dysport typically require 2 – 3 treatments per year as Dysport only temporary relieves fine lines. Typically, the ideal target age for Dysport is between 30 – 65. Patients below the age of 35 or above 65 have also been known to use Dysport successfully.
