What is Dysport®?
Dysport® is a prescription injection that contains botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum many people know of as botulism. Like Botox®, Dysport® works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, which are lines formed from repeated facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, and smiling. By reducing muscle activity, Dysport® smooths the overlying skin, diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Dysport® is FDA-approved and is commonly used to treat glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows), forehead lines, and crow’s feet around the eyes.

Dysport® Treatment

Using a fine needle, small amounts of Dysport® are injected into specific muscles that cause wrinkles. The procedure is relatively painless and typically takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete.
Dysport® Recovery and Results
After treatment, patients may experience mild redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection sites, which usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. No significant downtime is required, and most patients can return to their normal activities immediately following the procedure. It is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, or lying down for several hours after treatment to ensure optimal results. The effects of Dysport® typically begin to appear within 2 to 3 days, with full results visible after about a week. The smoother, more youthful appearance can last for 3 to 4 months, after which repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the results.
